Georgetown Revises Its Community Compact

The original community compact was badly written, full of absurdities, and contained unacceptable language about the university having a unilateral right to change the terms of the compact. Numerous faculty as individuals, plus the faculty senate, said it must be revised, and so it has been. Here is the new version:

This new version still has certain flaws, which I won't completely document here. One major flaw remains unchanged: It is unlikely that students will follow this. The university knows this and the students know this; they both know the other knows this. So we have mutual knowledge that when students sign this, they will do so disingenuously.
